Sightsavers International Workshop

This workshop began initially with the idea of a lack of sight. The children undertook various exercises in order to empathise more with the concerns of Sightsavers International. These mini projects included drawing the contents of a ‘feely bag’, where participants drew the objects they could feel tucked safely from view inside a cotton bag. We played various interactive games, writing numbers, letters and shapes on each others’ backs and hands, to guess what our partners were trying to communicate. Through touch or verbal instructions we guided each other blind folded around the room and over obstacles.

Initial observational drawings in the mirror were then explored through various compositions, and developed into acrylic paintings on board, using complementary colour mixing as a way to explore tone through colour. These will be fixed outside to our school fence!
